In 2009 Alberta’s Department of Culture and Community Spirit came up with a day for celebrating the art and artists of Alberta.
In 2010 the country celebrated with a nation wide celebration called Culture Days.
Those two days, while both in September, were a week apart…so in Jasper we celebrated Arts Days and then filled in the week with art and music and dance – until the following weekend – ending a 10 day celebration on Culture Days. Jasper’s ARTS WITH ALTITUDE Festival got the attention of CBC and we came in second place as CBC’s CultureVille!

As we build this annual festival – which the Mayor of Jasper has suggested we build onto – ARTOBER each year…watch for ways to get involved and make sure that Art Is Everywhere!
